“We need more testing immediately” Interview with KITV

Dr. Scott Miscovich of Premier Medical Group Hawaii believes the state needs the capacity to run at least 10,000 COVID-19 tests per day in order to safely reopen. 

The Hawaii Department of Health reports the state’s capacity is 2,400 tests per day. Dr. Miscovich’s concern comes after a large testing supplier on the mainland decided to reroute its supplies to areas across the country with higher case rates than Hawaii.  

“The manufacturers have shipped them to where the fire is raging and they have stopped shipping them to labs here,” Dr. Edward Desmond, Hawaii state laboratory director told KITV4.
